For New PAC Artists
Welcome and thank you for visiting the temporary home of the Professional Artists' Consortium (PAC) and ArtSho! If you were asked to visit this site by me (Greg Turco) it's because I admire your work and I'd like for you to consider being a founding member of PAC and ArtSho. This will soon become a powerful resource for artists to show and sell their work online.
The idea for the PAC was born from my frustration with slow art sales in this terrible economy. I began to ponder the creative force that is all of the artists I've met over the years exhibiting in galleries and art fairs, and wished there was somewhere we could pool all of that creative energy in a way that would be beneficial to us all. Initially, I considered the idea of combining simple things like our mailing lists as a way of sharing our work with more people. This would be great for the artists because all of the sudden we could have many thousands of people on a list instead of 5 or 600. Of course this wouldn't be so appealing for the people on that list because all of the sudden they would be inundated with hundreds of unsolicited emails. So, instead of trying to manage introducing new artists to a relatively finite group of buyers, why not take all of those artists somewhere that people were already looking for art and present them in a way that the buyer knows that what they are looking at is something different, something unique. This would also allow the individual artists to inform their regular contact list of this new feature and thereby indirectly introduce them to the rest of PAC without forcing anything ont them.
This is where Etsy comes in. Etsy is a great resource for artists and it has a huge following of potential customers but it has one big problem, it's just packed with so much work. Other artists (some really good, but many just not that good), tons of crafters and people selling vintage items. So PAC will be only the cream of the crop, juried artists. From the PAC we will choose artists to take part in ArtSho, an online juried exhibition that will be featured on Etsy. (ArtSho becoming a feature, by the way, is still the big IF. So if you know anybody that works for Etsy please let me know because I could really use some help on that end) This will be beneficial for artists because your work will be in front of hundreds of thousands of Etsy users daily. It will benefit Etsy because it will increase traffic to their site in the form of new users (artists) and it will add a new feature to their site that will be exciting, simple, and will attract a new client. I can even forsee ArtSho and PAC becoming a powerful tool for art buyers, graphic designers, and gallery owners worldwide.
Please take a few minutes and read through all of the page links at the top of this page to help you decide if you'd like to be a part of PAC and ArtSho.
To join us now all you need to do is send an email to: greg@turcophotography.com including your name, website (Etsy address if you already have one), and email address. There are no fees or requirements, for now we are just gathering artists.
For now I will add a link to your site and I will keep you up to date with what's happening and when you can expect us to be up and running.
In the mean time please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions about PAC or ArtSho. The goal of ArtSho is to make PAC members more visible online and make supporting ourselves with our art more viable in these tough economic times.
All the best-
Greg Turco
